Look at these beautiful (not-quite-finished-yet) sets!
We’re getting so close to filming in these beautiful spaces. Most of the building has been completed now, and we’re getting into the technical setup of it all.
The office is pretty much done, we just need to add the decor and make it look pretty. We should be working from there sometime in May!
It’ll still be a couple of months before the sets are fully complete, but we’re aiming to film in the Bored set late next month.

Progress looks AMAZING but I do have a question.
We blew through all the stretch goals, which included at least 2 more sets, the cave/natural interiors and the castle/temple of Karlabor. How do those play into the rest of the development of the space?

We should do a little update on those sets one time soon!
Short story is that the amount of space we have in the building means we couldn’t have dedicated sets for them.
So even though we keep calling it the ‘Tavern’ it is actually going to be a multi-use set which gives us dungeon and castle options
Then the cave was always meant to have a greenscreen element to it, so we’re going to build a whole lot of set pieces and cave walls which we can bring out onto the greenscreen. But we’re going hold off doing that until we actually need it 🙂
That is actually maybe even better, I mean to have a multi-use set where you can always arrange things you need at the moment in a way you need them. Of course it´s not like you cannot rearrange e.g. the Bored set when you need, but the Bored set cannot be changed into, I don´t know, a restaurant so easily or to be “unrecognizable as the Bored set”. So while it might always need some extra work for bringing and arranging and rearranging bits and pieces, some sets are more than suitable for that. I think the tavern/castle idea is amazing. And with the green screen you can make your caves soooooo much more “dark and mysterious and oh-my-there-is-definitely-a-boss-waiting-for-us kind of scary” 😂💖

I assume you’ve already taken this into consideration, but just in case: You should set up the backgrounds (or have movable set pieces) so that you can film through the window openings, without seeing any backstage stuff. Moveable greenscreen background boards to go behind the window openings could be handy too.
That’s a good idea. Little green screens that are just big enough to cover the windows, so they can look outside to whatever they want.

I have loved your work for years and I supported the Kickstarter, so I’m excited to see the results of the new studio. That said, I have a nagging fear that the new high tech facilities could result in losing that organic, innovative nature of your videos. Not trying to be negative; just hoping to remind you guys to continue to be who you’ve always been. Use the tech magic, but don’t rely on it alone. You are all awesome storytellers and hilarious actors/personalities. I can’t wait to see what happens. Love you all!

They were already using tech like green screens but have been hiring it. It’s the same VLDL but without having to borrow indoor places to shoot.

That’s one humongous not quite 100% green screen. I’m going to name it the Green bean screeny machine. Why? Because I can. Also because I want to.
I’m so amazed at how quickly you guys have gotten all of this done. It’s been one year and you have most of the sets done. Yeah, things need tweaking here and there, but shit, it’s only been a year and you’ve all come so far.

That window design for the Tavern is very cool. It will also open up some different camera angles. Makes more sense to me now why you went for the 3 wall set rather than 2 walls with 1 removable.

So is there no longer a “warehouse” area in the bored set? That would be a shame to loose the warehouse as there’s been so many great memories had over the years in the Playtech warehouse.

I wish the tavern to be bigger then it’s shown here little bit disappointed I am gonna be honest But hay I do love who things are looking But I am worried about the Cave set size and Castle set size Please make them Big Not some small room. Overall I am 7/10 happy with the construction 🏗 But you should tell people that the tavern or the cave&castle set will not be exactly like the pictures in Kickstarter. ❤️🙏🏽👍🏾🇸🇪
The Green screen room looks as big as the Tavern meaning it looks small to me? A very small Tavern.
Those little finishing touches are the worst. Progress seems miniscule and so slow.

I knew that we may have to curtail our expectations when considering the initial concept artwork vs the amount of space you had available, but having a dedicated Bored set and tavern/fantasy set along with the modular plans and green screen set pieces will serve you so much better. Now I just hope you have enough space to store it all. So excited for you guys as you move forward!
