BLOG #25 – Photos: Tavern renders

We got the renders back for the TAVERN set! These have got us super excited to start filming in here.

You can see the table in the middle where we’ll film our D&D games, and we’ll be able to use it for other fantasy shows like Epic NPC Man!

What would you like to be filmed in here?

Looks amazing. Can’t wait to see the final product guys!!!

  2. Hughbertus

Underwhelming, as a tavern it’s really missing something, where’s the beer served by Hamish the tavern wench?

    1. davidg95

When it’s got some props and proper lighting and people in it, it will look much much better

      1. Rahul Pal

I hope so Otherwise little bit disappointed

  3. TreehouseTavern

Woot woot! Tavern pics! It’s all becoming so real, I can’t imagine how you guys are feeling!

  4. Pavros

hope you have an area for the Garlic Merchant there someplace….? 2 sets in 1!

  5. Buci55

Love to see the plans!!! But it will definitely start to look better once it is equipped with some props and life and some fancy smancy fireplace! 😀 Can’t wait to watch the first DnD video from this set folks! <3

  6. Christina Jansdotter

This looks huge! With some decorations and props it’s going to be beautiful! I love the little upstairs section, so many possibilities for scenarios . Do the doors open? It’s going to be fun to see action going on at two levels at the same time, vertical interaction.

This would also be amazing for Witcher Logic season 2… we need more of Rowalt of Vivia and Alandelion the bard… please..?

Some parts of the walls could double for the exterior of a building, especially with the shutters like that. I may be lacking in knowledge of medieval architecture, but don’t you normally have shutters on the outside of the window?

The architecture also looks very much like one town in The Sims 4 (Windenburg).

Can’t wait to see you all using this!

  7. Quantumos

Looks epic! Can’t wait to start seeing some content filmed in the new studio.

  8. DansBeau

I love it! Can´t wait too see Greg behind the counter, since he is the owner of the Honeywood tavern (according to DnD)

  9. BZM

Looks damn good. Can’t wait to see the real thing.

  10. KageWolf

i nearly squealed…i am a guy of not small stature…it would have been Hilarious lol i am so excited for this. HURRY UP!

  11. AmberCloudy

This is so exciting! I’ve been waiting for the Tavern to start being built. VLDL et al must be on cloud nine with all the space they’ll have and it is theirs to use whenever they want!

  12. DisownedPuppy

can’t wait! I wonder what the first sketch to be filmed in the new studio will be…

  13. HeadlessChicken

This makes me wonder – will all the D&D cutaways still be on greenscreen, or will there be physical sets/locations when it works within the context of the scene?

  14. Zakkrifice

This looks insane! Imagining thsis with props, people and cozy lights…..its gonna look insane! Looking forward to it a lot!

  15. Lorquin

Gorgeous! The kind of pub I love to find irl

  16. Michael_pilot

In the furnace we can find a flamethrower, a ring of water walking, a magnify glass, a smelly screwdriver…

  17. CyberJarl

This looks awesome! So many things could be filmed in there, from D&D to Epic NPC Man, Witcher Logic, even movies in the future

  18. Ellimist

Looking good. I’m guessing the angled table is for some filming perspective trick?

  19. PlateArmourPiglet

The DnD table!! Perfect so no one’s blocked from view AND has a custom dungeon master screen!! 😍😍😍

I think I’d love to see the Epic NPC Man NPCs hanging out here after a busy day of “Hello Adventurer!”, “Mornin’!” and “Portal awaaaay!” 😃😃😃

  20. Limax

Six spots at the D&D table… maybe two guests at a time now?

  21. ejpuler

Getting better and better every day! Can’t wait to see the NPC “down time” when there are few players in a game

  22. harlekwin

Seriously impressed- I could see the opening scenes from the Dragonlance books being filmed in such a location.

Hope to see it in use soon.

  23. DragonsAreHungry

Looks super dope, and I love the DnD table! Love it love it love it!

  24. lonelyfootpad

I can picture it with lights and props and extras and ambience. Some mysterious hooded guy sitting in a corner smoking a pipe and watching our adventurers. Occasionally a bit of a brawl might break out and the half-orc bouncer has to throw someone out. Rarely a hobbit might be found ordering a pint and bragging about how he knows a Baggins (or perhaps a Blodger). Can’t wait to see DnD in there of course, but also more content coming from there in the future.

  25. Restonlaurels

I’d like a one shot sword fight starting at the top level.

  26. Starzeed

Nice!! Would also look cool with a slightly larger loft could have more tables and chairs up there, imagine a big bar fight and ppl being knocked off the top balcony 😆

  27. Zovanget

Please make more D&D skits. Rob did an excellent job with the first season and talked about all the ideas he had for follow up seasons. Really wish you had D&D skits ready now so you could maximize on the film.

  28. lazjen-gugglebun

Only thing that seems to be missing is the obligatory trapdoor that leads down to the cellar… Which, of course, is connected by a secret door to the tunnels under the village/town/city. Otherwise, it looks great!

    1. lazjen-gugglebun

Oooh, I just noticed the blank stone wall under the stairs going up to the 2nd level. Perfect place to put a door to the cellar!

  29. tpsutphin

Dragon Age the Action Film – Coming Soon!

  30. JvercaMC

Shame the wall on the left cannot be removed to allow filming from the side, but it’s a lot bigger than I had in mind and obviously the Bored set is in the way. I’m surprised there’s not a door to a cupboard under the stairs. Not only would it be a great meme, but could also be a natural way to transition from this location to another one, should you want to expand the ‘size’ of the tavern.

  31. lbogaerts

Can’t wait for some more DnD logic videos too, they would be nice to have some scenes in here!

  32. Flareside

Is there an over all top down layout of the different floors we could see? I am having a hard time picturing all the different sets and how you all will fit them in.

  33. Raeje Draeka

This is the kind of tavern I love. Old English style. I remember back when dungeons and dragons online first came out and I sat in a tavern like this roleplaying for hours. That was my fondest memory from that entire game before it died. It’s great to see that you guys are bringing roleplaying and taverns back together. I love it 💓

  34. JODA WIBO

Looking awesome! Also a great location for future ‘Souls Logic’ settings, only in a worn-down version of the tavern.

  35. BrilLeahnt

Gonna look BrilLeahnt (lol) once it’s got props etc in it. I really hope the dnd cutaways are all still green screen and this set is saved for “real” Epic NPC skits and the main table session

  36. centauri

Would love to see some D&D Logic filmed here

  37. sarlacii

Ah, the spot where all the tired-out NPC’s gather at the end of the day… after hours and hours of gameplay. Only to be discovered by that one keen-bean player from some obscure time-zone, that *wants to do their quests*! So come on Greg, put on the garlic and smile like you mean it! Same for Bodger, and Baradoon. LOL So many possibilities, can’t wait!

  38. khor

once a month on friday’s you can open this area for playing DnD with fans

  39. Tako Kakuta

It is very beautiful! I would love to see this place used for films showing stories about RPG games, like in Honeywood. It could be a meeting place for adventurers. There, they could meet mysterious guys enrolling them in new adventures, aks information and look for other adventurers ready to help them. 🙂

You need to include a dark, quiet corner table that has walls for privacy for those intimate private encounters. Get your head out of the gutter you peasants!
